If you’re suffering from a damaged or decayed tooth, you need to get it attended as quickly as possible. Tooth pain can interfere with your daily life and lead to further damage if left untreated. Getting crowns milled in the lab and placed at your next appointment can take weeks, but with cerec same-day dental crowns, you can get treated quickly and receive your permanent crown within the same day.
The CEREC system uses a camera, computer, and milling machine to create the crown while you wait in the office. The dentist will first scan your tooth using the intraoral camera. The digital images are then relayed to the computer where they are used to design a restoration to restore your tooth. Once the design is complete, a milling machine will use the CAD/CAM software to make a new, all-ceramic crown for your tooth while you wait comfortably in our office.
CEREC Same-Day Dental Crowns: Technology Meets Efficiency
There are some cases when a same-day crown is not suitable, such as when the fracture extends below the gum line, and the camera cannot capture the image properly. In such a case, we will need to recommend a traditional crown for you.
Same-day crowns are more convenient for patients because they can resolve serious tooth decay and severely chipped teeth within a single appointment. They also help avoid the need for a temporary crown that can break, dislodge, or become uncomfortable and unsightly. Plus, because they are made from the same porcelain material as traditional lab-milled crowns, they have the same strength and durability.
